No pictures today, sorry! And I usually don't do real "wordy" blog post, but... I was totally trying to score points and be the cool mom last night...so I took Dakota to see "Twilight," a movie that premiered in theaters at midnight. Apparently if you are a teenage girl, you know about the series of books and were anxiously anticipating the release of the aforementioned movie. Well, I didn't know ANYTHING about the story except it was about a girl falling in love with a way too cute brooding teenage vampire. From 9:00-11:45 PM I sat--waiting to get in the theater--amid a bunch of way-too-giddy girls wearing a variety of "Twilight" t-shirts and talking incessantly about all things "Twilight." I tried to read my "Yada Yada Prayer Group" novel, but didn't have much success! There were even some (about 2% of the attendees were male) guys sporting fangs & dressing up like the heartthrob teen vamp. I'm telling you, it was a pretty funny site. I've never done a movie premier before (to me, NO movie is worth it), but I think it's something everyone should experience just once!!! I know there were other "older" girls (Penny!) who were watching the movie too, but I never once ran across them. Seriously, I think I was like the oldest person in the theater.
OK, here is my movie review: it was entertaining and mostly clean, but I would have waited for the DVD!
And then...at 2:30 AM, while driving home, Dak and I saw two big flashes of light and wondered what it could have been (it certainly couldn't have been lightning...the sky was clear...and lighting doesn't happen on on the central coast very often), well we found out within a minute as we approached a raging fire near HWY 1. I had Dak call 911 and we proceeded through the smoke praying the fire wasn't impeding traffic flow (the smoke was pretty thick). We made it home safely, praise Jesus!!! By 6:45 AM (per online news reports) the fire had burned approx 40 acres and was 100% contained. It was started by a downed power line.
Only three hours of sleep...I'm tired...the End!

Hey you "twi-mom"! What a fun time it sounded like you had. Probably pretty fun to just people watch! Can't say that I have ever gone to an opening night movie at midnight! What a cool mom you are! Plus you got to see the fire! We saw some of the Cal Fire men at ALbertsons this morning & talked to them a little about the fire. Then Maddie had to check their truck out when we were in the parking lot!
Great job Mom!!!!
That does sound exciting... the fire, not the movie. I did see the movie with some high school kids up here in Chico. I got hit a couple of times for... umm... translating. I did have fun hanging out with the group even though I could match up Bella to the immoral woman in Proverbs 6 and I still don't understand the draw that girls have for moody guys.
